On 22-23 May, FSDO organized jointly with the UN RC Office in the Dominican Republic, UNDP, and ECLAC an INFF Inception Workshop in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The workshop was attended by national government officials from the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD), the Ministry of Finance, other relevant line ministries, the private sector, and academia. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of the participants to develop a strategy to finance the development priorities set in the Dominican Republic’s National Development Strategy, using the INFF framework. The organizers presented the INFF global methodology and shared experiences and best practices on INFFs from other countries in the LAC region. The workshop was followed by a 3-day scoping mission, during which FSDO and its partners held bilateral meetings with government officials from several divisions in MEPyD, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Education. The main objectives of the scoping mission were to compile the inputs for the Inception phase of the INFF process in the Dominican Republic, and to define the scope of the INFF technical support to be provided to the country by FSDO and ECLAC under the DA project Towards an INFF and the Support to INFFs in SIDS project that is part of the Financing for SIDS (FINS) Initiative.
