United Nations Commission on International Trade Law

The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) has been recognized as the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law. UNCITRAL was mandated to further the progressive harmonization and unification of the law of international trade and by this reduce or remove legal obstacles to the flow of international trade and create enabling domestic environments for trade.

The Addis Ababa Action Agenda specifically:

  • Endorses the efforts and initiatives of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law as the core legal body within the United Nations system in the field of international trade law
