JOIN US NOW the 2023 ECOSOC Special Meeting on International Cooperation in Tax Matters Friday, 31 March, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (New York time).

The Special Meeting provides a platform for multi-stakeholder discussions on critical matters in international tax, facilitating the exchange of ideas and advancing intergovernmental consideration of tax matters. As the world continues to gradually recover from the impacts of the multiple crises, which have undermined the gains achieved so far toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Special Meeting takes on particular significance.

This year’s Special Meeting will examine two timely themes:

 promoting inclusive and effective international tax cooperation at the United Nations, in reference to the new General Assembly resolution (77/244) on this subject; and

 taxation as a policy lever to advance energy transition, including sharing experiences and lessons for countries in different types of situations.

The Special Meeting will aim to identify concrete options and best practices for fiscal measures in support of more inclusive, sustainable development and to advance progress toward a fair and effective international tax system. The Meeting is expected to make strong contributions to the global discussions in advance of the 2023 Financing for Development Forum, High-level Political Forum, SDG Summit, and the High-level Dialogue of the General Assembly on Financing for Development, as well as the ministerial-level preparatory meeting for the 2024 Summit of the Future.
